As we’re reaching the end of the year, I thought I should write a little bit about everything that happened. I don’t know if you guys are interested in that (it’s probably going to be a mess) but I want to make it for myself in the first place. To reflect everything. So it’s kind of a review of 2018 – things that impacted me, what I enjoyed the most etc.
It has been a very intensive year with ups and downs – but mostely ups that made me happy and changed my life in a positive way. At the beginning of the year, I was still in Ireland, exploring the beautiful country, working in B&B’s and spending a great time with my boyfriend. It was a wonderful experience which actually had a huge impact on me. This Work & Travel helped me to realize who I am, who I want to be and what I need to do to achieve my dream. Besides, it opened my eyes for the little things in life f.e. to appreciate the beautiful nature arround us. At this point, I want to share my favorite pictures from our trip to Ireland – enjoy!
As I already said, Ireland helped me to learn more about myself. So when we came back to Germany in April, I made a big change in my life. After years of dreaming, I finally started to wear vintage inspired fashion on a daily basis. This was a huge step and it took some time and overcoming but it was absolutely worth it! During the same time, I also made a decision on what to study. This has been one of my biggest problems over the last few years. I never knew what to do after school and that’s also one of the reasons why I did the Work & Travel. But after years of worrying I finally made a decision to study Management of Media at university. Obviously I don’t know if this really will be my job in the end (because things sometimes change) but for now I think I’m on the right path and that’s amazing!
After I applied for uni in May, I still had a long time to go until my first semester in October. So I started to concentrate a bit more on my Instagram and changed it into a Vintage Account. I wanted to build up my own Vintage Community so I posted more frequently and really cared about the whole aesthetic. My goal for the end of the year was to reach between 5000 and 10000 followers (at that time I already had around 3000). But you may all know that it came a bit different! My account grew so fast, it’s still so hard to realize what happened. At some point I gained around 2000 followers every week – which is absolutely insane – now I have around 480000 followers! And the bigger my account got, the more I had the chance to work with amazing brands for example like Besame Cosmetics, TopVintage, Vivien of Holloway, LindyBop, Charlie Stone Shoes, Miss Patina and many more. I also filmed and edited my two first tutorials, made some interviews and met so many lovely people with the same passion. I’m truly, truly grateful for all the opportunities I got and all the love I received through Instagram. For the next year, I just want to continue everything, make more collabs and also start my own Youtube Channel!
But let’s stop talking about Instagram. There are more things that happened. You guys may know that I love to travel and because I turned 20 this year, I got a trip to Rome (which is my favorite city) from my parents! So in August I went to Italy’s capital city for the third time and it was as amazing as always! I felt like I came home after a long time and enjoyed every second during this one week. I explored new places and I got asked for a selfie by a complete stranger for the first time (I kinda felt like a celebrity :D) Anyhow, here are some pictures from my trip!
All of these things sound great but we all know life is not always a bowle of cherries and I also had a few hard times this year. I lost some friends, my love life had its crisis and I also struggled a lot with my panic attacks. But I have the feeling that all of these “bad” things helped me to grow and appreciate the good moments even more. I’m thankful for every experience that I make, whether it’s good or bad, because I know it’ll make me stronger either way. It’s normal to have bad days too and that’s ok as long as you don’t forget to stand up again!
All in all, I think 2018 was a very good year for me and I’m very thankful for everyone who spent it with me! To give this post a nice close – here’s a list of all of my other favorite things from 2018!
